Farrukh has been associated with the equity Capital Markets of Pakistan for 15 years and has held various positions in the buy- side and sell-side space.
Prior to establishing TrueNorth, Farrukh was the CIO at Providus Capital, a family office managing approx. US$50mn in Pakistan’s stock market. In his time there, the portfolio outperformance compared to the overall market was 70%.
He has also been Head of Equities at Next Capital, overseeing the research and sales functions at the firm. As Head of Research at KASB Securities (at the time an affiliate of Bank of America Merrill Lynch), he interacted regularly with foreign fund managers and assisted their trips to meet corporates in Pakistan.
Farrukh has also worked in global financial markets, when he was a research analyst at Credit Suisse in Singapore as part of their Asia Pacific research team. He covered the Oil and Gas sector there.
Farrukh is a CFA Charter holder, a Dean’s List graduate from LUMS, with a degree in Economics, and did his schooling from Karachi Grammar School.
Farrukh has a deep commitment to value investing with a deep understanding of various sectors, with a forte in Banking, Insurance and the Macro-economy.

Umer has 13 years of experience in the private equity and Investment Banking space and has successfully closed transactions amounting to over US$ 150 million in various industries including pharmaceutical, agriculture, telecom, banking, food, steel, entertainment, financial services infrastructure and power generation.
Has worked for various large groups in Pakistan including Cyan (Engro/Dawood), JS, Next Capital and Alfalah.
